Sports equipment information
Whether you’re packing a snowboard or some golf clubs, here’s what you need to know. For equipment that exceeds the maximum size you must book a dedicated space in advance.
Golf clubs
Golf bags up to 120 x 35 x 35cm can be taken to and from any destination as one of your pieces of on-board luggage.
Skis and snowboards
On our snow trains to Bourg-St-Maurice (via a connection in Lille), Eurostar allocate extra space on board so you can take one pair of skis or one snowboard on board with you in addition to your standard adult luggage allowance. For safety reasons, skis and snowboards have to be kept in a protective case that covers the whole item.
On all other trains, they’re included as one of your two pieces of luggage.
Watersports
Eurostar are not currently able to transport surfing or windsurfing equipment. Please contact Euro Luggage Delivery to have your equipment sent to your destination.
Camping equipment
You can take tents and other shelters as part of your on-board luggage allowance, as long as they’re packed in bags or cases under 85cm long.
Camping gas or butane cylinders and canisters cannot travel on trains according to SNCF/SNCB regulations, so you won’t be able to take these on board under any circumstances.
You can take camping cutlery and tools like pocket or Swiss army knives, as long as any blades are less than 3″ (75mm) long. Any folding knife with a blade that locks is strictly prohibited, regardless of size.
Sporting bats, cues and darts
You can take bats, pool and snooker cues and darts as part of your on-board luggage allowance, as long as they’re kept in a protective case.
Fencing equipment
You can take fencing equipment (épées, foils and sabres) as part of your on-board luggage allowance, as long as they’re transported in a box made for this purpose and kept in there the entire time while at the station and on the train.
Dangerous sports equipment
You’ll need to contact a private courier if you’re travelling with any of these items as we are currently unable to offer our usual service: spears and spear guns, crossbows, crossbow bolts, longbows, longbow arrows, swords or starting pistols.
Golf clubs
